Actually, after the first shot is fired, the hammer is already returned. What he does is hold down the trigger after the first shot, and slaps the hammer back with his other hand. So he can make two shots in the time it takes to make one shot if you were firing it like a double action. I'd imagine he was using it like a single action, or that it actually is a single action.

Physically impossible for the hammer to be released, hit the cartridge, be cocked a second time, fall again and strike the second cartridge. Not a single consumer weapon in the world fires that fast.
